Ryan Ware Nabs 1st WMMP Late Model Victory on Midseason Championships

N. Woodstock, NH — With Double Points on the line across White Mountain Motorsports Park’s five championship divisions, it was gloves off on the high banks in North Woodstock tonight with some winning big and some losing bigger. Both Late Model Rookie Ryan Ware and Massachusetts-native Nick Anderson earned big first-time wins, Michael Clark, Tyler Thompson and Jason Wyman strengthened their championship hopes as Midseason Champions.

The only non-point division in the line-up for Midseason Championship night was the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Trucks. Once again won by Waterford’s McKenna Merchant, it was the battle between fellow divisional veterans Kyle Goodbout and Logan Farnsworth that gave fans their moneys worth while first-year pilot Walker Fitch muscled an ill-handling Ford Mustang from the outside pole back to fourth.

The Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers may have had the best race of the evening. With all four cautions resulting from single car spins, it was go-time for Littleton’s Michael Clark. Clark motored past Rookie Thomas Smithers VI just after lap 10 with the remaining top-seven under a blanket behind him. As Clark drove off, defending champion Jason Woodard tried to track him down with top rookie Kaiden Fisher stalking his every move. As the top three came around in a line for the two-to-go ‘popsicle sticks’ under the flagman, it was Tanner Woodard, Kyle Streeter, Colin Cornell and Fisher in a melee for a massive top-5 battle. Clark earned his second win of 2022 handily over Woodard’s second place finish and Fisher’s first White Mountain podium.

After a week off, the Wayne’s Market Dwarf Cars returned to the high banks, this time for a pair of 17-lap segments instead of their usual 25-lap feature. Point leader Jason Wyman swept the two events followed by former Dwarf Car championship runner-up Colby Bourgeois in his return to competition and New England Dwarf Car Series invader Justin Harris took third. An excited Harris told the crowd he’ll soon be back, looking to bring several of his Series competitors up Route 3 with him.

The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis continued the feature action on Midseason Championship night after Scott Senecal and Chris Moulton took down their respective heat wins. Their flag-to-flag feature was full of close racing and daring moves to gain every position they could for those illusive double points. Littleton’s Tyler Thompson launched from his seventh-place starting position, navigating traffic to take down a much-needed win after two weeks of poor luck. Chris Moulton once again returned to victory lane to take home second and Jillian Baumgardner earned third. After an on-track incident between Adam Sicard and Brendan Clark, both drivers were penalized and relegated to last place for their unsportsmanlike conduct.

With the ‘King of the Mountain’ championship still in the air, Double Points meant everything for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Model teams, and it showed. The one and only caution occurred on lap 14 and saw opening day winner Jon Savage get collected along with rookie Bryan Wall, Jr. into the turn one wall. Afterward, it was all Jeff Marshall. The defending champion drove around rookie Ryan Ware and never looked back as Ware, Quinny Welch and Jesse Switser had a 20-lap battle for third. Marshall took the checkered flag but did not make it through technical inspection. A wheelbase violation relegated him to a last-place finish giving Ryan Ware his first Late Model victory followed by Welch and Switser to round out the podium.

To wrap up the Midseason Championship action, the Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Models returned to White Mountain for the first time in nearly a month. Race number two of their limited series in 2022 was also split into two 25-lap segments. Graniteville’s Brian Putney, unable to make it to the inaugural event on June 11, handily won the first segment followed by Massachusetts-native Nick Anderson and Strictly Mini regular Kristian Switser. The second segment ended the evening’s program with Switser crossing the finish line first to claim the overall win, but that too was etched out in post-race inspection. With Switser disqualified with a suspension infraction, Nick Anderson took the overall win followed by former NEMST champion Desmond Skillings and Kenny Marrier in third.

Next up at the White Mountain Motorsports Park is a special Friday Night event on July 15th. Headlined by the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 150, the New England Supermodified Series also makes its debut on the North Woodstock high banks. Along for the ride will be the PASS Modifieds as well as the inaugural visit for the New England Pro-4 Modifieds. Post Time is set for 7:00pm with more information and race day schedules will be released in the coming days.

Saturday, July 16 sees the second PASS Super Late Model 150 in less than 24-hours plus the return of local championship action for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers and Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis. Post Time is set for 7:00pm with more information and race day schedule to be released in the coming days.
