N. Woodstock, NH — The yearly Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini Stock special at White Mountain Motorsports Park is annually one of the most exciting events on the schedule, Saturday’s rendition kept that reputation alive. From all aspects, 2022 has not been kind to Jack Hayes. Mechanical problems had left him with several DNFs in only three races so far this season and he started Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Night on his roof but ended it in Victory Lane.

With $500 on the line and the 50-lap distance, compared to their usual 25, brought in several invaders looking for the checkered flag at the end of the night. On the hunt, dominant Tyler Thompson was looking to become $500 richer but the invading teams, led by Nick Pilotte and Tim Corey also included some Thunder Road Warrior teams looking to keep up with the White Mountain regulars. In the end, Hayes came back to take down the win followed closely by Thompson and father-in-law Donnie Baumgardner for third.

The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division got quite the shake-up on Saturday. Former winners in 2022, Connor Charboneau and McKenna Merchant were left mired in traffic while the front pack took off. Kyle Goodbout claimed his first victory in 2022 followed by first-year driver Bentley Robbins and Logan Farnsworth.

In Wayne’s Market Dwarf Car competition, stakes were high for the defending champion Tommy Smithers as he went into Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank night with a slim three-point lead over Jason Wyman. Both former champions had to navigate traffic to reach the front of the field, Smithers getting the worst of it after tangling with Ethan Tyrell on lap-6. Jason Wyman successfully made his way through, taking the win followed by Andy Hill and Smithers who recovered strongly after the caution.

It was flag-to-flag for the Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers with all ends of the spectrum standing in victory lane. As the front three took off and never looked back it was Shane Sicard who charged up through the field, gaining six spots to earn this week’s Sunoco Hard Charger award for a 5 Gallon can of Sunoco Race Fuel. Michael Clark led every lap for a dominating win over 7-decade-long racer Joey Laquerre and Rookie of the Year contender Thomas Smithers VI.

The Foley Oil & Propane Late Models let it all hang out on Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank night. After Jesse Switser took the win in the Semi Feature, it all came down to just 50 laps in their third event of the season. After Pat Patten’s spin early on, the 17NH of Tyler Jones and 39VT of Mike Foster got into it going into turn three, bringing out the second caution. As two more cautions followed, multi-time champion Quinny Welch only saw the checkerboard pattern as he bobbed and weaved from the sixth staring position around fellow former champions Stacy Cahoon and Jeff Marshall. Welch took down his first win of 2022 following a winless streak from May of 2021. Defending champion Marshall took second and Cahoon wrapped up on third.

White Mountain Motorsports Park continues the 2022 season this Saturday, July 2nd with the patriotic Twin-76s for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models and Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers as they contest the second round of the J.P. Sicard Triple Crown Series. Also on tap will be the Woodsville Guaranty Saving Bank Strictly Stock Minis and Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division with the night ending in fireworks courtesy of Northstar Fireworks in East Montpelier, Vermont.
