Looking Back: The Top-5 Events from White Mountain Motorsports Park in 2023

N. Woodstock, NH — With 2023 winding down to a close, we thought we’d look back at some of our most memorable events at White Mountain Motorsports Park this season. New Hampshire’s Favorite Short Track certainly makes memories all summer long, making it all the more difficult to narrow down just five nights, but we decided to give it a try anyway!

Here are our favorite picks as we look back on the 2023 season. (Note: Events Listed in Chronological Order)

Saturday, June 10, 2023 – Foley Oil & Propane Late Model Special

The Foley Oil & Propane Late Models are the King of the Mountain division, and they proved why during the Foley Oil $3,000-to-win Special back in June. Nearly 30 teams rolled through the White Mountain gates, all in search of the big cash prize including ACT Champions D.J. Shaw and Jean-Paul Cyr and track champions Quinny Welch and Stacy Cahoon.

The 100-lap affair saw young regional hot-shoe Gabe Brown return to victory lane after a ferocious battle with Bryan Wall Jr. An interesting look into the future saw a top-10 full of young all-stars including Kasey Beattie during his 2023 title hunt, Tanner Woodard, Jimmy Renfrew Jr. and Quebec invader William Larue!

Saturday, July 22, 2023 – Twin Double Features plus Pro-4 Modifieds!

The action-packed night of six divisions grew to include eight feature events after rain washed out Midseason Championships the week before. While Kasey Beattie nabbed headlines with his twin feature wins in the Late Models, John Donahue and Matt Potter became the first drivers not named Brandon Gray to take a Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tiger win that night.

Not to mention, regional Late Model hot-shoe Stephen Donahue jumped aboard a Wayne’s Market Dwarf Car and carried the checkers in his first shot piloting the little open-wheeled rockets in twin-segment competition. All this and still the New England Pro-4 Modifieds put on a fantastic showing as Brett and Doug Meservey fought doorhandle-to-doorhandle with Brandon Lavoie in the final circuits for a dead-heat finish with Brett taking the win.

Saturday, August 5, 2023 – 6th annual Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250

The Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 for the American-Canadian Tour continues to ‘up’ itself year after year and 2023 was absolutely no exception. While Donnie Baumgardner took twin-feature wins for the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Mini Midseason make-up and Austin Sicard took the popular Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division win, all eyes were on the 42 Late Models that made the trip.

Eleven drivers failed to make the starting field for the Milton CAT 250 and the thirty-one that took the green flag made it a race to remember. The competition was fierce from lap one to lap 250 as longtime White Mountain supporter Jesse Switser went from winning the B-Feature to winning the A-Main, his first American-Canadian Tour win and the first White Mountain regular to win an ACT event at the track!

Saturday, September 2, 2023 – 5th annual Leaf Peepers 100

To kick off the Labor Day weekend holiday, the Leaf Peepers 100 returned for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models. In one of the quickest events of the summer, at just 24 minutes and 55 seconds, just one caution in the opening laps failed to slow Littleton’s Mike Clark who took his lone Late Model win of the summer in dominating fashion with none-other than 2023 Rookie of the Year Kyle Goodbout on his tail in second.

The Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division also went for twin features on Leaf Peepers 100 Saturday, split between part-timer Connor Charboneau of Groveton and Logan Farnsworth from St. Johnsbury.

Saturday, September 16, 2023 – 45th Fall Foliage 200 ACT/PASS Doubleheader

One of White Mountain’s biggest events of the season among the fantastic and fiery colors of fall, the Fall Foliage doubleheader between the ACT Tour and PASS Super Late Models never disappoints. After Hallowell, Maine’s Johnny Clark led the majority of the PASS showdown, looking to pull the hat-trick of winning all three PASS events at White Mountain this year, Gabe Brown battled methodically through the pack. Brown made a late-race move to motor around Clark, and a combination of track position around lap traffic and managing tire wear found Brown victorious.

Looking to double down, Brown started tenth on the ACT Fall Foliage 200 grid, likewise working his way through the top ten before pit strategy took over and again found him cutting through the competition. Unfortunately for him, Joey Polewarczyk hit the strategy just a little differently en-route to his third-career Fall Foliage win over Brown and popular Quebec pilot Jonathan Bouvrette.

All of us at White Mountain Motorsports Park wish our fans, teams and supporters a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
