Looking Ahead: 5 WMMP Events to Look Forward to in 2022

John Raper photo

Last week, we looked back at five of the most memorable events at White Mountain in 2021. Now we’re looking at some events we’re really excited about in 2022! To be honest, we’re excited about every race — but there are five that we think everyone should circle on their calendar. (Actually, we cheated and listed six — there’s so many big events happening, we couldn’t even limit it to five.) Take a look at our picks and then let us know what events you’re looking forward to most!

(NOTE: Events are listed in chronological order.)

May 14/15, 2022: 30th Season Opening Weekend

It’s almost a given that the first race of the year, after nearly eight months of quiet, is one you would look forward to. But for the opener of our 30th season, we’re pulling out all the stops! It begins Saturday, May 14 with the annual Car Show for our local divisions from 10:00am-1:00pm. At 6:00pm that night, we begin two days of racing with a four-division card. Added distance is on tap for everyone with 60 laps for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, 50 laps for the Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, and 30 laps each for the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s and Arnolds Wayside Diner Dwarf Cars.

Then on Sunday, May 15 at 1:00pm, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models are in town! They’ll go 150 laps at the first of three North Woodstock visits this year. The PASS Modifieds are coming with them for 50 laps of open-wheel fun. We also have the debut of the Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Models and the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division completing a jam-packed opening weekend, Bring your camper and make a weekend of it in the beautiful White Mountains!

June 4, 2022: Modified Racing Series

The Tour-type Modifieds are back at White Mountain! For the sixth time in series history and first time since 2020, the Modified Racing Series is coming to North Woodstock. The series was on the rise over the second half of 2021, and with no other Tour-type Modified events currently on the schedule for that weekend, we’re expecting a star-studded field at the White Mountain 100. Our fans have been asking for Modifieds, and we’re excited to deliver! We’ll also have a full card that night for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, and Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division, making it a show that both Modified fanatics and local racing fans will want to see.

BONUS EVENT — July 2, 2022: Twin 76’s and Fireworks

Like we said, we just couldn’t limit ourselves to five events with all the amazing things planned. Mother Nature said no to our Independence Day celebration last year, so we’re planning on twice the excitement to make up for it this year. Both the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models and Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers will go 76 laps in honor of the holiday. For the Tigers, it’s the second round of their J.P. Sicard Triple Crown Series. The night also includes the Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s and Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division — and once the racing ends and the sun goes down, Northstar Fireworks will present the best fireworks display around! Our friends at Thunder Road will have their holiday event the following night, so make it a doubleheader and attend both for double the fun.

July 30, 2022: Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250

The ACT Late Model Tour is visiting White Mountain three times in 2022. We’re excited about all of them, but after last year’s Midsummer Classic 250, how can we not put it on the list for this year? There might not be a driver winning with the hood up this year, but you’ll still get the biggest Late Model stars of the Northeast battling for a $10,000 top prize. Milton CAT has joined this year to help the take the event to even greater heights. The 250-lap main event will be supported by championship action for the Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Models, and Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division.

September 17-18, 2022: Fall Foliage Weekend

The two-day Fall Foliage Weekend returns this year to welcome autumn in the North Country. This year, the PASS Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds take center stage on Saturday night. It’s 200 combined feature laps of Pro All Stars Series action as they hit the homestretch of their title fights. The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s are crowning their 2022 champion on Saturday with the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Trucks rounding out the card.

Sunday, September 18, the ACT Late Model Tour goes after a $5,000 top prize in the Fall Foliage 200. Last year’s event was a worthy return for the historic event, and it’s only going to get bigger from here. The Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers have their championship event, the Arnolds Wayside Diner Dwarf Cars are slated for a shootout, and we’ll have visits from the RK Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors of Thunder Road. We’re working on another possible add-on or two as well — stay tuned!

September 24, 2022: R&R Race Parts NH Street Stock Open & Championship Night

We’re blowing the doors off this year’s Championship Night at White Mountain. After a smashing success its first year, the $5,000-to-win R&R Race Parts Street Stock Open Fall Foliage is back for another go-round. Forty-two cars showed up at last year’s event, and we think we’re just getting started. For the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, it’s a 50-lap feature to crown the 2022 “King of the Mountain”. The Arnolds Wayside Diner Dwarf Car and Ammonoosuc Asphalt Mini Late Model championships are also on the line, and the Dads 4 By Tool & Supply Kids Division wraps things up. It’s such a big night, we had to give it an early 5:00pm post time — make sure you’re there for the first green flag!
